He has basic knowledge of Makaton and has taught pupils from 5 to 19-year-olds. He has been working in the field of Autism since 2009. Adam has a vast knowledge of Safeguarding and is one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads at Brick Lane School. He has a passion to develop pupils’ lives and ensure that all children under his care achieve their full potential.

Joedy Franssen – Deputy Headteacher

Joedy has BsC Honours in English and Education, specialising in students who learn English as a second or foreign language. She also holds an MA degree in Linguistics. Joedy’s natural interest to develop her passion in teaching landed her a job in Autism in 2013. She has 10 years’ experience working with students who have a diagnosis of Autism.  Joedy has knowledge on SCERTs which focusses on building competence in social communication, emotional regulation and transactional support. Joedy is a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) coach and has previously been a part of a pilot study from the British Institute of Learning Difficulties and Windesheim University of Applied Sciences on how to implement PBS as a school wide approach. As well as the Deputy headteacher, Joedy also teaches Food tech at Brick Lane school. She is dedicated to enthusiastic and dynamic teaching and coaching. Her ultimate goal is improving quality of life for all: students, families and the professional team.

Hannah Birdsall – Office Manager

Hannah has a BA degree in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Studies, with a focus on making learning environments accessible to people with sensory and physical disabilities.

After finishing her degree, Hannah wanted to expand her knowledge and experience working with children with SEN and joined the company in 2021. She believes that her role is essential to teaching staff in order for the school environment to be well prepared for students day-to-day. Hannah is a central point of communication and support to both staff and parents.

Hannah has also worked and gained classroom experience in multiple mainstream and special schools before moving onto her administration role. During her university degree, Hannah completed a placement in The Children’s Hospital School, Great Ormond Street.

Selina Griffiths – Pastoral Co-Ordinator and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Selina joined Brick Lane School in 2022 after deciding to move from mainstream to work in a SEN school that specialise in autism where her passion truly lies.

Selina began working with children and young people in Hackney and Camden in 2010 and has worked at a few educational provisions in various teaching and managerial roles for over nine years. Selina has particularly extensive experience in the areas of SEND Behaviour and Safeguarding and holds a BA in Childhood and Youth studies.

Selina has led TAs and worked as the learning mentor helping children to face any barriers they may face throughout the school day and working with families and the local community.

Selina is passionate about Safeguarding and is the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Brick Lane School and is proud to serve the many communities that make Brick Lane School a special place.
